ChatGPT is no longer seen as the "method" for AI anymore. Industry professionals were, and are still, rushing to implement Claude into their business practices in order to "not be left behind". So, what is all the hype about? And should we be worried that natural, human creativity will become outdated?

Find out in this article.

1. What is Claude?

Claude is a AI assistant developed by Anthropic, a company focused on AI safety. It processes text and images to assist with analysis, coding, and creative tasks. The most recent models of Claude can hold up to 200,000 tokens, which means the platform can support extended conversations with extensive documents, detailed context, and complex multi-step tasks without losing information from earlier on in the discussion. This makes Claude especially helpful in supporting large projects, brainstorming and research. In simpler terms: Claude is capable of a wide variety of tasks, is trained to be easier to converse with, maintains reliability and overall makes it easier to generate the result you're looking for.

2. How is it different from other AI platforms?

The hype surrounding Claude tells you: this isn't just your regular AI chatbot.

At the forefront of things, Claude dominates rivals like ChatGPT and Gemini by having such a large context window for it's standard "affordable" pricing. The competitors have large context windows available to purchase in premium packages, but these packages are by far less accessible than Claude's Pro Plan.

Claude is different to other AI models because of it's unique, yet meaningful traits. Claude uses "Constitutional AI", which ensures it provides helpful, ethical and honest information. This Constitution explicitly teaches the AI how to behave in certain situations, allowing for reduced hallucinations and has increased productivity in more complex, multi-step tasks.

There is a feature called Skills which allow you to teach Claude how to do something in a specific context, reducing the need for repetitive prompting. These skills carry over across all of your projects, streamlining common processes into a bundle of instructions for Claude to interpret.

3. How is it being utilised professionally?

Claude has seen a rapid adoption in multiple industries including tech, marketing, legal and finance - with a figure reported of over 90% of it's usage being dedicated to work-related tasks. Claude is heavily used professionally for software development, complex text analysis and content creation. Computer and Mathematical related tasks are the leading functions in Australians when using Claude. Following behind are Office, Sales and Management related tasks.

Top Professional Use Cases
  • Software Engineering and Coding: Claude is widely considered the tool of choice for programmers, especially considering the Claude Code tool autonomously handles debugging, coding and navigates large codebases with ease.

  • Data Analysis and Complex Writing: The large context window makes Claude highly favoured for summarising hundreds of pages, reviewing contracts, and identifying trends in large data sets.

  • Workflow Automation: Managing recurring tasks like responding to emails, organising project documentation, and making project trackers.

  • Financial Modelling: Creating Excel models, building 3-statement models from raw data, and build financial dashboards with portfolio analytics.

Claude Code is making coding much more accessible; it breaks down barriers for non-programers to automate tasks, and build functional software with plain-language commands and prompts.

4. Is Claude going to change the marketing industry? For good or for worse?

Claude is reshaping the marketing industry, and the way we view content creation. Despite Claude being an incredibly advanced and accessible AI tool, there could be more harm than good within creative industries due to a flood of soulless, generic content clogging the algorithm.

Claude can be a priceless analytical tool for TikTok and social media content creators. A social media account can be evaluated by Claude, breaking down the traits of consistently well-performing content. Creators can harness this information and leverage themselves into a more competitive standpoint, focusing on the real data, and creating what has shown to produce the most traction in the algorithm. The TikTok creator @leadwithzoe, claims that Claude helped her gain "over 6,000 followers" through a single video - simply by generating a video script for her TikTok (which was ironically about Claude).

Another creator demonstrated a step-by-step tutorial on creating a digital marketing portfolio in the form of a website, with Claude. The creator directly captures herself taking a screenshot of a "reference" website, despite the end result being a practically exact replica of the original creators.

This presents the arising issue of the potential erasure of genuine, human-made thoughts and ideas - creativity. Relying on AI too heavily will create an influx of generic content. Content in which has no genuine humanity behind it, but rather blatant replication and mediocrity.

For the marketing industry, there is risk in engaging in Claude, or AI in general. A genuinely captivating marketing campaign is much more than just producing technically competent content; it's storytelling and strategy that remain the real differentiators.

It's about finding the balance between using Claude to guide and help strategise, versus making it do all of the work for you - producing something which lacks human energy.

5. How can it affect you - A University student?

If you're a student, Claude is evolving into much more than a search engine - it's becoming a personalised academic tool. The 2026 updates introduced features that specifically combat the isolation of solo studying .

Unlike a standard chatbot that forgets your history, Claude now retains context. You can create a "Project" for a specific class, upload your lecture notes, readings, and case studies and Claude will act as a tutor that references only the material you have given it - not generic web advice.

You can customise Claude to suit how you want to learn. Instead of instantly solving tasks, Claude can guide you step-by-step, asking you leading questions which force you to answer yourself. The conversational tone can make studying more interactive and engaging, being an incredible assist when solo-studying.

Claude is an incredible tool for all industries and businesses. With all types of AI usage, we see the risks of over-reliance and the lack of human voice behind concepts - especially in marketing and digital media. Utilise AI tools like Claude to understand data, and crunch numbers rather than trying to shortcut human emotion and creative direction.
